30 Years and Still Smitten!
Today is my 30th wedding anniversary! This is me and my beloved, “then” and “now”.
It seems both forever ago and yesterday that Joe and I tied the knot. I cannot remember a time when this man was not in my life, and I feel so blessed to have a marriage that is lasting the test of time. Together we have raised three terrific kids and remained steadfast through the ups, downs, highs, lows, happiness and sadness that life brings. Through it all is a deep and abiding love that, thank goodness, neither of us takes for granted or can imagine living without.
My brother commented yesterday how fortunate Joe and I are to remain smitten after all these years. Smitten. It means to be enamored, in love, affected by something overwhelming, or struck down with godly force. That’s a lot of punch packed into one word and it sums up our three decades together pretty well.
I wish everyone the joy of being smitten. If you have already experienced it then consider yourself blessed. If you have not yet been smitten, understand that it is worth waiting for, and when it happens, buttercup, buckle up and enjoy the ride. It’s a doozy.
Still smitten after all these years –
