From left: Lindt chocolate/peanut butter truffles, Thanksgiving Pilgrim, Yankee Candle (Be Thankful scent) and autumn leaf candy dish.

November 1st has arrived, and it has brought with it several cool things, two of which are firsts for me. Here they are:

  • All that nifty stuff top center will be yours if you are the winner of my first ever blog contest! The contest begins today and ends on midnight Monday, November 15th.  I’ll announce the winner soon after and get all that stuff in the mail to be delivered and enjoyed in time for Thanksgiving Day.  To enter your name for the random drawing, please do this:

1. Sign up as a Follower if you are not already one of the Follower friends I’m so grateful for.

2. Leave a comment on this post telling me the nuttiest thing for which you are thankful, not including family and friends. (Feel free to leave a comment on the Microfiction, too, though that is not a requirement for your inclusion in the contest.)

3. This one is optional — mention this blog contest on your blog or website with a link back, and your name will be entered into the drawing a second time, doubling your chance of a win.  Be sure to let me know you’ve linked so I can offer a thanks back to you!

That’s all there is to it! I hope you’ll enter my first ever blog contest—good luck!

  • NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writer’s Month = 50,000 words in 30 days or less. I’m a participant this year, so I’ll be typing away on my novel. My blog posting/reading/commenting will dwindle during this time, and I apologize in advance, but I’ll keep you updated with my word count here and on Facebook and will take all the encouragement I can get. I didn’t expect my first marathon would be spent with my butt planted in a chair. Good thing we writers appreciate irony!

Welcome to Roland D. Yeomans, my newest follower.  Thanks, Roland, for following and for your comments!

Now on to Microfiction Monday, the meme I’ve come to love.  As always, huge thanks to Susan at Stony River for hosting this. So many people participate and the stories are terrific.  Link back to Stony River to access other Microfiction tales. Here’s my offering for this week:

Witchy hat, black cat, pumpkin up on high; little girl is ready for a Halloween surprise. Poor, sweet kid…trick-or-treating was last night!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Monday! Don’t forget to enter the contest!
    Ever thankful –

Thanks for the big welcome to the Fellowship of Writing In The Buff. That was a great surprise this morning. Even more thanks for your comment on my own post.As a former creative writing and high school English teacher, NaNo doesn't appeal to me. Yes, we should write consistently every day, but not stress quantity over quality. Still, have fun with it and enjoy the journey. Roland

Hi Lisa and fellow NaNo buddy – hopefully I'll remember to put you in my blog for this contest. The nuttiest thing I'm thankful for… hmmm… how about nuts – what's not to love about nuts? When I think of something better, I'll let you know!

Oops—her mama didn't check the calendar, poor girl. Maybe some of the neighbors have some candy left over for her. Good one!

Hi Lisa,Awh sweet MF. I hope someone took pity on her. Thanks for dropping by my halloween blog party micro. The nuttiest thing for which I am thanksful is my 16months old cat Borage, who is so comical and let's face it completely nutty with a heart of gold and a he's so piggy he stole tarragon's food and looked like a conference pear on legs until we trained him better. :O)

Shall I try again?I became a follower this morning and I posted a link to your blog at comment about what I am thankful for: I am thankful that after a full body slam on a wet McDonald's floor this weekend that I am only sore and have no broken bones, that I still have my teeth! 🙂

Yay, your first contest! That's exciting, and I am totally in. 🙂 The nuttiest thing I am thankful for? How about the dollar menu at McDonald's? Small fries are a buck and have less than 300 calories. Good for an occasional indulgence. Your micro fiction is always fun, and nicely done. Didn't mean to rhyme…it just came out that way…I am a follower.Happy November,Karenklange61(at)hotmail(dot)com

Okay, Lisa. Even though I was already (covertly) following you, it's now official. I really think I should win that stuff since I always lose on Cathy's giveaways! Plus, you won't have to mail it to me! Soooo…something I'm thankful for would be 8:30 pm. Most people call it bedtime. With six kids, we call it Happy Hour.

Thanks for stopping by my place and leaving a note, Lisa. Nice to read your little Halloween ditty, too. I'm very much a practical minimalist. The 140 characters appeals to those sensibilities.

Hahaha! Deb made me laugh! Does a hot bath count as a nuttiest thing to be thankfor for? How about if I pour some almond-scented bath junk in it? 'Cause I do so love my hot baths…ahhhh. I feel more relaxed already (Nano's wearing me out and it's what? The second day? The SECOND day…I need a bath.)

Lisa — good luck with NaNoWriMo! I wrote my second novel on NaNoWriMo last year. It was a terrific experience. Did you know that Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants was a NaNoWriMo book originally?KristinDREAM

I'm dipping my toes in the nanowritmo water starting today. I'm not good at pouring forth words by the bucket, but I'm going to try. I need something to get me going. Good luck to you!
