TGIBBF!

Welcome again to Book Blurb Friday.  If you’re a newbie, here’s the scoop so you understand what follows.  Please click HERE or click the tab under the blog header for details of the Book Blurb Friday meme.  This is the shortened, abridged version:

Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.

Below is this week’s “book cover,” generously offered for our creative blurbs by NaNoWriMo writer extraordinaire, Lynn Obermoeller at Present Letters.  Lynn only has a few thousand words to go and she’ll easily hit the 50,000 word target. Congratulations, Lynn!

My blurb follows.

Special Effects
(147 words)

<!–[if !mso]> st1:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } <![endif]–>

The Lamborghini owned by Hollywood’s bad boy, Nicholas Ramone, crashes on a mountain road. Ramone emerges from the hospital three months later, his face completely bandaged, the extent of his injuries unpublicized.
Months later, he calls a press conference. His face is severely altered by plastic surgery, but he’s ready to revive his acting career.
In the small town of Haven, Washington psychologist Bettina Bentley arrives home, surprised to find a mysterious man asleep on her porch. He suffers from total amnesia, and Bettina makes his recovery her latest project.
Bettina sees the news and realizes the amnesiac she named John is a dead ringer for Nicholas Ramone—before his accident. Probing for answers puts Bettina and John in danger. On the run, they continue to search for John’s identity, but the truth is hidden in a volatile mix of reality and a madman’s devastating special effects.

To be sure that others can read your blurb, please put your name and link in Mr. Linky, below, if you are participating in Book Blurb Friday. If you have no blurb to share, please do not install a link. It will be treated as spam and removed. Thanks.

Here is our “book cover” for next week’s Book Blurb Friday #40, provided by the multi-talented Sandra Davies at Lines of Communication, another NaNoWriMo titan with over 64,000 words already!  Congratulations on shooting past the 50,000 word target well before the end of month deadline, Sandra. Wow.  And thanks for this wonderful photo.

Thanks for participating in Book Blurb Friday. If you have any photos you think would be appropriate as a “book cover,” please send them to me via email (writinginthebuff@hotmail.com).

Have a great weekend! See you next for Monday’s microfiction.

Sounds like heart-racing fun–and I bet Bettina will even infuse a little inner beauty as well! "Special Effects" is another winner!

I would read this one in a heartbeat. It promises mystery, action and psychological thrill. That's a winning trio for sure.

Hi Lisa — You're right, we did take those photos in Quito. I wouldn't put our names to them if we hadn't.We visited there before and after our trip to the Galapagos Islands, and really liked the city and the surrounding area.K

Hi Lisa! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm a little behind, but here I am! Thanks for the sweet words of encouragement on NaNo. Seems a little harder this time, especially these last several thousand words… but I'm too close to stop now!Love your blurb as always! You always nail it. Now on to read the others!
