TGIBBF!

Welcome once again to Book Blurb Friday!

If you are new to this blog, please click HERE or click the tab under the blog header for details of the Book Blurb Friday meme.  This is the shortened, abridged version:

Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.

Below is this week’s “book cover,” generously offered for our creative play by the gifted teacher, writer, and pet rescuer, Sioux Roslawski.  My book blurb follows:

Smart Alecks

When Josie Ditzanno and her sorority sisters “appropriate” a case of candy from the university president, they have no clue it isn’t ordinary chocolate. Derived from the cocoa bean of the rare Smartalecki Tree, one taste brings burgeoning brain power.
Biff Buffington and his fraternity brothers are horrified as, overnight, the girls gain unprecedented insight into what a college man is really thinking. As the girls hang up their mini-skirts in exchange for pocket protectors (and pepper spray), the guys scramble to investigate this appalling turn of events.
Mayhem ensues as Biff and friends use every harebrained scheme imaginable to infiltrate the sorority house, outwitted at every turn by Josie and pals. When the guys literally stumble across the candy and have a taste, what follows is an all-out war to prove who can outwit whom in a chocolate-coated battle of the sexes, Smartalecki style. (145 words)

Okay, y’all, I had too much fun this week. The possibilities are vast, and I’m still giggling over what I didn’t write. This is a G-rated blog, after all. Can’t wait to read your blurbs!

Please put your name and URL in Mr. Linky so others can link back to you and read your blurb, then scroll a little further for a peek at the photo for next week.

Here is our “book cover” for next week, provided by the talented artist and writer, Sandra Davies.  Thanks Sandra!

Thank you for participating in Book Blurb Friday. If you haven’t yet attempted a book blurb, I hope you’ll join in. The blurbs are fun to write, and it is such a blast to read what others have written.

Have a great weekend!
Lisa

First of all, the photo for next week is incredible. This week's…not so much (ha)!I love your blurb, Lisa. It takes a simple picture of a candy bar and elevates it via your rollicking tale. Bravo!

I forgot to mention I loved the name (Biff Buffington) and phrases–"burgeoning brain power" and "chocolate-coated battle" among others.

You cracked me up with your character's names again Lisa-too funny! And I love the idea of the "meat heads" gaining much needed brain power-now you have me wondering what you were going to say…

Sioux – Thanks! And I happen to think this week's picture is terrific. 🙂 As to the Biff Buffington…I actually knew a frat guy in college named Biff. And he looked like his name. He was a nice kid, though. (Although my sorority's name for his frat was the "Disco Ducks." hehehe…) Judy – Thanks!Susan – You don't want to know what off-shoots of sanity came to my mind. Trust me on that. LOL

I too loved the names and your clever wording! And I am so impressed that you actually did know a Biff who actually was in a fraternity!!! Oh, and I would be SO scary-smart if chocolate really did that.

Mmmm … chocolate and (I presume) sex – irresistible combination and such clever names too – definitely sounds like a good fat book to take on holiday. From thinking "What on earth can I do with that?" re Sioux's photo I came up with one of my better ideas – thanks you Sioux, and also you Lisa – this meme is an excellent exercise in plot planning.

Kay – Those pocket protectors say it all, don't they? Remember the movie Apollo 13? There is one scene that flashes across all the NASA engineers and to a man they are wearing pocket protectors. LOL Sandra – I'm glad you enjoy the meme. I, too, find it to be an excellent writing exercise. And thanks for next week's great photo!

Hey Lisa, Couldn't stand to be away for too long, although I don't know about doing it every week again. I may do it like I did this time – which you'll see when you scoot on over to my blog. Although I must say, after I read your BBF, I wonder why I even try. You are SO GOOD! Loved the names, and want to pick up that book. I think you need to start writing the books to all of these BBFs along with everyone else. Take care.

This sounded like a fun book to read, until I learned that the guys end up eating the chocolate as well. Then it became downright hilarious. Who wouldn't want to buy a book that promised a steady stream of laughter? Very fun blurb, Lisa.
