Book Giveaway AND the Royal Rack
“Chicken Soup for Soul – Hooked on Hockey” hits bookstores soon and my story, Deep at the Heart, written in honor of my spectacular big brother, Craig, is included in this anthology. I’ve got a few copies to give away, so if you’re interested in winning a freebie just leave a comment and let me know you’d like your name thrown into the hat. Please include your email address so I can notify you if you win. That’s all you have to do. No tweeting, Facebooking, following, or sending up smoke signals required to enter this giveaway—although if you mention it to your friends and they drop by to add their names to the drawing I’ll be a happy little writer.
The first drawing will be next week, with winners announced on Wednesday the 26th, at which time the contest begins anew. Remember, just leave a comment along with your email telling me you’d like the chance to win. That’s it—easy peasy!
So how about all this dust up over the publication of photos of Princess Kate’s royal rack? As of now, rags in France, Ireland and Italy have published the pics, and an internet porn site is offering a blank check to any paparazzi able to offer up a photo of the royal couple having sex.
I’m not a prude by any means, but I’m appalled by this and my heart aches for the poor princess who thought she was safe and secluded from prying eyes at a relative’s home in the south of France. Her topless sunbathing has received a ridiculous amount of attention serving no purpose other than to humiliate Princess Kate and put money in the pockets of the slimeballs printing the photos.
A French judge has ordered the magazine in France to hand over the photos or risk a sizable fine, but what difference does it make now, especially since the other countries have not followed suit? The judge noted that the property was hundreds of meters away from any public road and that the royal couple had every expectation of privacy. Too bad the female photographer who caught them with her high-powered lens didn’t agree. You can bet she’s laughing all the way to the bank.
That the paparazzi found a way to intrude on Kate and William’s holiday is not surprising, but the lines that continue to be crossed are a sad testament to what grabs the world’s attention. In light of the way Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana, died—in a car crash while attempting to escape the paparazzi—this entire mess is darkly ironic. Even after such a tragedy, no one has learned a thing. Not the bottom feeders snapping the pictures, not the publications paying top dollar for those pictures, and not the general public that continues to drive the bad behavior by embracing sick voyeurism.
With all the crazy celebrities and reality TV personalities behaving badly on purpose (Prince Harry comes to mind), wouldn’t you think the world would have its fill? Why gorge on the dignity of a young woman whose only crime was vacationing with her husband?
When will it stop? Will it ever stop? For the love of God, how do we make it stop?
See you next time –
