Cover Reveal: Love Built to Last – Book #1 in the Fireflies Series

Posted on Feb 18, 2015 by Lisa Ricard Claro   32 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Happy Wednesday, y’all! Today’s post is an exciting one for me as I’ve been given the go-ahead from my publisher to reveal the cover of my first novel, Love Built to Last, due for release on June 20th, with the opportunity for pre-order coming soon. This is the first book in the Fireflies series. Here it is!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00067]She can’t let go of her dead husband . . .

Maddie Kinkaid believes her late husband, Jack, gives her advice on everything from ordering a pizza to hiring a carpenter, so when she finds Caleb Walker’s business card on Jack’s desk, she’s convinced that he’s the guy to remodel her kitchen.

He can’t decide if she’s worth the risk . . .

Caleb is a single father, and protecting his young son means avoiding romantic entanglements. But there’s heat in every kitchen, and sparks ignite between Caleb and Maddie—until disaster strikes.

When Jack goes silent, Maddie’s guilt consumes her, and it looks as if she and Caleb will never find their happily-ever-after—at least, not without a little help from Jack.

Love Built to Last began as the award-winning short story, Fireflies, and is now the #1 novel in the Fireflies series. Watch for book #2 Love to  Believe and #3 Love to Win, coming soon from Black Opal Books.

So what do you think, Buttercup?

That gorgeous cover art is the work of the multi-talented artist Melissa Stevens, The Illustrated Author (www.theillustratedauthor.net). I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am with her work. That she is also a delightful person and enjoyable to work with was just icing on the cake. She’ll be creating the covers for the next two books in the Fireflies series, as well.  I can’t wait to see more of her work.

More news: My new website will go live in a couple weeks. The main URL, which currently brings you to this blog, will deliver you to the home page of the new website. Writing in the Buff isn’t going anywhere, but because the blog will no longer be my home page, the blog URL will change. For those of you who receive my blog posts via email, this will be a seamless switch-over and you’ll continue to receive Writing in the Buff exactly as you do now. If you’re a WordPress follower, you’ll be converted to an email follower to avoid being left behind. For everyone who follows, please be assured that your email address is never—and will never—be shared or used for anything but delivery of the blog posts, and of course you always have the option to unsubscribe. I won’t hold you hostage, even for the purpose of distributing The Naked Truth. I promise.

After the switch, you’ll be invited to opt into the mailing list for my newsletter, as well. I hope you’ll consider it.

Thanks to everyone for all the support you’ve shown. I appreciate you reading and commenting here. Please believe me when I say that I never take you or your time for granted.

**** Coming soon to Writing in the Buff! ****

Next week, February 25th, author Cathrina Constantine will be Writing in the Buff about her new novel, Don’t Forget to BreatheCathrina is a popular YA and New Adult novelist, and I’m excited that she’s agreed to guest host. Please come back to meet her, and for your chance to win a free e-book of her newest release.

The following week, March 4th, I’ll unveil the results of a crazy promise I made to my daughters several years back. It’s something I thought I’d never do, not in a million years, but I promised to follow through under very specific circumstances—and in the Claro house, a promise is a sacred oath, never to be given or taken lightly. Heaven help me.

As always, thanks for hanging out with me. I appreciate you! Please leave a comment—what do you think of the cover and blurb? See you next week.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Lisa

Gorgeous cover, Lisa! I love the sound of your book – a romance with a smudge of ghost – my favorite. Good luck!!!

Lisa–The cover is gorgeous. The tiny points of light seem to be real–they really bring to life your cover. You really lucked out getting a great artist to do your covers.

I can’t wait to pre-order your book. Congrats again.

Thanks, Sioux. Yes, Melissa is awesome. She asked me a few questions about the book, read the full synopsis and epilogue, and then created that beautiful work of art, and really nailed it. I couldn’t be more pleased. (And I’m nervous about you reading my book because you never read romance. *nail biting*)

Cover is so colorful and inviting! Great job here. Know it will rock when it is out. You sure are a busy woman! But the cover suggests tranquility…. Good luck ahead.

That lovely cover has an almost magical quality, and your blurb gave me chills! Love-love-love stories with a hint of ghost, and this sounds like multidimensional suspense and fun. Congratulations, and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!

Thanks, Tammy. I got chills the first time I saw it, too. It was a bit nerve-racking at first, wondering if I’d like the artwork or drive the artist crazy with changes, but Melissa hit a home run with the first draft. We changed a couple of things, but nothing major. She’s very intuitive and kinda read my mind. 🙂

I far and away prefer romance stories to NOT have an image of the couple on the cover.

Your cover is subtle, the colors are beautiful, and best of all it allows my imagination to fill in the details. Congrats!

Thanks, Pat. That was the only real thing I didn’t budge on: no naked men on the cover. lol I won’t say there’s nothing sexy in the book—it’s romance, after all—but that isn’t the mainstay of the story. I’m with you. I love this type of cover.

Well Lisa I am a fan of naked men, barley naked men, semi naked men ah you get the picture! But your cover is very pretty. It does look like the lights a twinkling and from the teaser the cover seems to suit. Can’t wait to read the book. Haven’t read a romance novel in many years. Congratulations time for a big glass of wine.

Oh, Lisa, I am SO excited for you! I adore this beautiful cover; what a talented artist Melissa is. And then of course, there’s the story itself. Wonderful! I love layered novels with a touch of the spiritual, a whisper of a past love and an unfolding love, and this sounds like it’s right up my alley. I can’t wait to fall under the spell of its pages!
