If It Fits, It Sits. And Snoozes.

We’ve all heard the “if it fits it sits” statement, and if you’re owned by a cat, then you know this to be true. Our cat, Luna, loves to sit in things—suitcases, boxes, laundry baskets, the clothes dryer—anything she can climb into. I’ve read that cats have this compunction because being “hidden” allows for both security and stalking prey, though in Luna’s case she’s usually just showing off. What do you think?

Since the hubster and I have started packing up the house, Luna has plenty of opportunities to inspect the boxes, and I swear she’s climbed into every one. Sometimes she sits, and sometimes she sleeps.

That got me thinking about big cats and whether they have a similar affinity for boxes. I found this video on YouTube, posted by Big Cat Rescue. It would appear that all cats have a thing for boxes.

Do you have a cat? Does he/she love boxes? Let me know in the comments, and if you have a photo to share, please do!

This is a short post this week, buttercup, as we’re packing and cleaning, prepping the house for sale. I’m off to pack another box. Don’t worry . . . I’ll watch out for the cat. 🙂

Have a great week. See you next Wednesday!

This reminds me of a blog post I did a few years ago. Cats definitely love places to hide. So do big cats. (If I knew how to attach a picture, I’d put up the one I posted of a tiger in a very small box-he looked quite pleased with himself.)

Good luck with the packing and selling and moving, oh my!

Cats are just cool no matter what they’re doing. 🙂

We have four cats and they sleep where they want and sit where they please. (just ask the dog whose bed is theirs now). There is still something so cute about cats sleeping wherever they fit.

So true. I love cattitude! 🙂 Our dogs, like yours, pretty much give the cat freedom to do as she pleases, when she pleases, and wherever she pleases, even if it inconveniences them!

No cats here just my boy Buttons. He loves to get up on the back of a soft chair in our living room so he can look out the window. He also likes to get under the covers in bed. We have a split-king (basically two extra long twin beds pushed together) and he loves to snuggle down into the crevice between the two beds. Sometimes you can only see his head. lol

I love the pictures of Luna.

Haha! Buttons is a character for sure. I’m so glad he’s doing okay now. 🙂

I used to bring home boxes for our cat. He loved them. Just think, all your hard work will be rewarded with beach walks, sun on your nose and sand on your toes.

*sigh* It’s what keeps me going! And don’t forget the umbrella drinks. 🙂

I don’t have a cat because I’ve always considered myself more of a dog person, but after that sweet photo of Luna napping in your sweatshirt, I’m melting into a puddle of love here. She is SO sweet. Happy packing!

You’d be a cat person if you had one, Deb. People always think cats are so aloof, but they aren’t. They’re bossy and affectionate and smart and silly…they wrap their humans around their paws, that’s for sure. 🙂

Lisa–Thanks for the video. I had no idea big cats liked boxes just like their smaller counterparts.

I love how cats will sit on the one piece of paper we need. When we had cats, I’d put a piece of paper on the desk next to my laptop and invariably, a cat would choose that exact spot to sit–right on the paper.

Have fun packing and moving. These days, that’s an adventure I’d rather live vicariously.

Cats do enjoy getting up their human’s business! As to the moving, I’d rather be doing it vicariously, too. lol Hopefully, this is our last move.
