Hello, Buttercup! Is it just me, or was this week longer than usual? When I sat down to put together today’s Observations from the Tub I needed a pick-me-up, and I found it in a series of photos taken by Maddie Peschong (Mad Photo & Design) in the performance of her duties as wedding photographer for Valerie Parrott in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I came across the story—which I’ll share with you—and immediately contacted Maddie who graciously granted permission for me to share these photos.

This first photo is of Valerie and her mother. Beautiful, yes? What you don’t see in the photo is Valerie’s service dog, Bella. Bella is trained to be in tune with Valerie, who suffers panic attacks. When Bella senses the anxiety of her mistress, she comes to the rescue by licking Valerie’s hands or nudging her, a clear message to Valerie that she needs to take five from whatever she’s doing. For obvious reasons, Bella was especially sensitive to Valerie’s needs on her wedding day, and when Valerie’s anxiety began inching up, Bella came to the rescue. Maddie snapped the photos below showing Bella at work.

The rest of these great photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!

I have another reason for loving this true story. First, the photographer’s name, Maddie, is the same as my heroine in Love Built to Last. And second, Bella’s name is close to Belle, the name of a rescued pooch in Love to Believe. Serendipity! For a more detailed telling of the story, please visit this report at CBSnews.com. And thanks again to to photographer Maddie Peschong (Mad Photo & Design) for sharing these photos.

I saw this heartwarming story on the internet. Love comes in all forms, not the least of which is our connection to our fur babies. Looking so forward to your next book, Lisa.

I know, right?! My daughter is getting married in October in Miami, so her pooches can’t come. Not that she’d invite them anyway…she has four! Two mini Dachshunds, a chocolate Lab, and a little mutt. If they could come, it would certainly make for an interesting reception. 🙂

Shepherds are so beautiful! We had a German Shepherd when I was a kid, and he was a wonderful dog. He looked fierce, but he was a big baby.

Yes, that tutu is something. She appears to be rather proud wearing it, too!

Ooops, I did it again. I forgot something, and so I have to leave yet another comment. Oh well… 😉

I knew a dog once who was in the middle of a big event in a football field. The dog left its owner several times to up into the stands. Finally, the owner went after his dog, and found him next to woman. The lady said, “Is your dog a seizure dog?” The owner said no. The woman continued, “Well, I’ve had a few seizures today, and your dog keeps coming up to me.”

Out of all the people in the audience, the dog went to that woman each time. With no training…

lol You may leave as many comments as you wish, my friend! 🙂 Interesting story about the untrained dog, instinctively choosing the one person in the crowd who needed him the most. These types of stories only make me more of a “dog person,” if it’s even possible for me to love the little furries more than I already do.
