Mega Mail – Why Not Me?

Posted on Sep 25, 2015 by Lisa Ricard Claro   13 Comments | Posted in Observations From the Tub · The Naked Truth

A few days ago I inspected our guest room to be sure it was clean and tidy for my son and his wife, who were coming to visit. On my way out of the room, I noticed a stack of mail left on the dresser . . . since May! That certainly explains the mail delivery problem we thought we’d experienced. Oops. *sigh* All I found when I sorted through it was junk. No winning lottery tickets amidst the mess. Such was not the case, however, for the Michigan woman who recently discovered, in an old pile of mail at her home, a winning ticket from the May 26th Mega Millions drawing.

Linda Tuttle of Kentwood, Michigan picked up her prize on Tuesday—one million dollars!

The hubster and I think we should’ve had a winning lottery ticket mixed in with our old mail, too. It isn’t fair that the only things of note in our stack were an old MasterCard bill and yet another reminder from the AARP that I’m old enough for membership. Also, we should probably, you know, actually buy a lottery ticket to up our chances.

Have you ever mislaid mail? When you recovered it, did you find anything important?

See you Monday for Pawsitive Pondering!

Lisa–I think you and your husband SHOULD buy a lottery ticket. After all, the two of you have each other, you earned a three-book publishing deal, and… well, don’t they say that things happen in 3’s?

Maybe that winning ticket would be your number 3…

Sioux, I like the way you think. 🙂 Maybe we will buy a ticket or two, just to see what happens.

Yes, alas, I have misplaced mail, but luckily when I found it, there was nothing in there but junk. Happy weekend, Lisa, and thanks for the smile 🙂

Unfortunately, with few exceptions, most mail is junk these days.

I haven’t misplaced mail, but I live in constant fear of doing so. I misplaced car keys once, found them in the bookcase about a month later. It’s OK to not remember where you put car keys; it’s not OK to not remember what the car keys are for.

I have temporarily mislaid mail but never missed anything good. Mail is so important to me. I LIVED for mail most of my early life, but alas, true mail has gone the way of typewriters, Princess phones, and Bobby socks!

This is so true, Claudia. Fallout from technology.

I misplace mail all the time, usually burying it in a pile on my desk or table. Nothing has ever been important though – usually just junk mail. Most of my important stuff comes through email now. Have a good weekend!

Email, texting, IMs, etc. Yes, true. I confess that as far as junk mail goes, I do like receiving all the crazy catalogs that still come through the mail. 🙂

Never misplaced mail. I mean, I know where I always put it. I don’t always remember to go through it. *sigh*
