Microfiction: Pompous Investigations AND Belly Proof

Posted on Jun 19, 2011 by Lisa Ricard Claro   23 Comments | Posted in Grandma's Goulash · Succinctly Yours

Grandma’s Goulash graciously hosts Succinctly Yours, the wonderful meme for those of us addicted to microfiction. The trick is to write a story in 140 characters or less using the photo below as inspiration. To add to the challenge is the word of the week, “fabricate.”  My stories are below.

 Pompous Investigations

“I say, milady,” sniffed the Earl. “Whatever is that riff-raff doing?”
“That’s my butler,” she smirked. “He’s inspecting you for pomposity.”

Belly Proof
“This belly lint proves you killed the weaver!” declared the detective.
“Sheer fabrication!” she cried.
“No.” He took a closer look. “Wool.”

Wishing you a wonderful Monday!

See you next time –

"No, wool." I love that line. And I know some people who should be inspected for pomposity. LOLTwo good ones, Lisa.— KKay, Alberta, CanadaAn Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel

As usual, both are great. "Sheer fabrication" is a great play on words.

I thought I'd already laughed the most at someone else's SY, but now you have won for the funniest and most clever! Belly lint – LOL! That should be incorporated into one of the CSI shows.

Good ones, Lisa! 🙂 I suppose that the test for pomposity is one that a pompous person often makes. He wouldn't want to be outdone…Thank you for peeking in on my gnat hair with Irish fingerprints. And for your nice comment…
