You just never know when you’re going to meet someone cool.
A few weeks ago I met Charles Zito, the owner of Mystical Illusions Painting Company. Charles came into the Georgia SPCA where I do volunteer work, and I had the opportunity to chat with him for a few minutes. His company offers a unique service, one I had never heard of before. I’ll describe it in a nutshell, but urge you to click to his website and have a look around.
Using special glow paint that he mixes himself, Charles paints true-to-life murals of the night sky, with a 3-dimensional effect, on ceilings. During the day, the ceiling is white and “normal.” At night, turn out the lights and watch the stars glow.
Why would you want that? Well, for one thing, it’s cool. But for another, it’s great for kids, especially those who might be afraid of the dark or who love constellations. Charles also creates posters, and markets his Amazing Magic Posters to help raise money for three charitable causes: The Progeria Research Foundation, breast cancer research, and a camp for kids with Tourette’s syndrome.
Check it out!
Have you ever heard of anything like this? Would you have loved it yourself when you were a kid? How about as an adult?
See you Monday for Pawsitive Pondering! And if you’re a local, don’t forget to visit me tomorrow at the Barnes & Noble in Snellville where I’m participating in a six-author panel and book signing from 2:00-4:30. Hope to see you there!
