New Year, New Site, New Title, Two Winners!
Hello! We’re now four days into 2017 and so far the year has been rainy and cool here in Georgia. The weatherman says we might even see some snow over the weekend. You know what that means, right? All the grocery stores will be out of bread and milk by Friday, and the local news reports will all be about STORM WATCH 2017. Even if we only have five snowflakes hit the ground it will still be STORM WATCH 2017. Sometimes the weather warrants the hype, sometimes it doesn’t. I guess we’ll see. In any event, all the local meteorologists are going to be so happy. They become giddy with excitement when the storm maps go up.
Speaking of being excited, I’m ready to name the winners of the Name That Blog contest. Some of you went above and beyond, offering multiple suggestions way in and out of the proverbial box. It was a joy to read and consider the offerings. Thanks so much to all of you for playing along.
And the winning title is:
Writing in the Buff: The Naked Truth, dressed and pressed
I thought that one up myself while in the shower—I know! So apropos!—and decided I like the pun-iness of it. But true to my word, as promised, there are still winners! If you offered suggestions here on my blog or visited from my newsletter—if you haven’t subscribed to my newsletter yet, you’re missing out on good stuff and should sign up immediately :)—then your name went in the hat. The winners were decided with no bias via www.random.org, and both will receive a box of gently used books, a special mug, and other goodies.
The contest booty and congratulations belong to:
Sioux Roslawski and Debbie Cooper
Please allow me a few weeks, ladies, to put your prize boxes together. I’ll need your shipping addresses, please, and will notify you by email with tracking numbers when your boxes are on their way.
You may have also noticed that my whole website has changed. What do you think? Special thanks go to Jennifer Davis at J. Davis Web Design who put the whole thing together, and Melissa Stevens at the The Ilustrated Author Design Services who created the signature logo. Don’t you love the cat? It’s so me! Visit the home page to see the frame/dog she created for my photo. Big, big, thanks to both of these professionals for their expertise, talent, and patience. I’m a royal pain in the tail to work with because I’m so indecisive. Also, my brain works with words, not visuals, and I have a terrible time imagining how things will look. I have to see it. That means I’m a disaster when it comes to choosing colors and designs. I like this one—no wait!—this one might be better, but—wait!—would you mind if we try—can we change the color on—oh, help! Can you believe neither of them ran away or fired me as a client? Honestly, buttercup, if you need the services of a web designer or graphic artist, look no further than these ladies. They’re amazing.
Remember back in June when I introduced you to author Tierney James? Well, Tierney will be back here next week, offering a guest post and an excerpt from her new book, Dark Side of Morning. I’m looking forward to helping her launch her new book, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy connecting with her again.
That’s it for now, buttercup. I hope you like the new website, the signature logo, and the new blog title for Writing in the Buff. It’s a new year, and it seemed like a good time to start fresh. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think about the whole shebang.
If you received my newsletter, then you saw the teaser about my newest novel, Secrets by the Sea. It will be a while yet before it is available, but I promise to keep you posted.
Also, I didn’t respond to blog comments last week because, again, I didn’t think it would be fair with the contest ongoing. But things are back to normal now, so please do leave a comment. You know I’ll comment back!
See you next week.
