My husband and I went on a date Friday night. We first enjoyed dinner and then went to see the new James Bond flick, Skyfall. It’s a great date movie. My hubby enjoyed the Bond girls and lots of car chases and stuff blowing up; for me it was Daniel Craig’s muscles and the close-ups of his blue eyes. And, okay, if I’m honest . . . the car chases and stuff blowing up.
After the movie I considered all the different Bonds over the years—George Lazenby (ok), Sean Connery (swoon), Roger Moore (ha, ha), Timothy Dalton (eh), Pierce Brosnan (mmm-hmm), and Daniel Craig, who plays a wonderful Bond . . . James Bond . . . although many fans of the series initially had their doubts. Here’s some trivia from the website 007James:
“There were mixed feelings about Daniel Craig before the film was released. Some people even went as far as creating websites and petitions against the “blond bond.” However, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan all came forward to give their support. On Casino Royale‘s release, the negativity all went away, and with the film a huge success, Daniel Craig turned out to be a popular and worthy James Bond. Daniel returned for his second outing as Bond in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, which was one of the highest grossing Bond films in America to date.”
Guess Mr. Craig showed the naysayers a thing or two.
Have you seen Skyfall, and if so, did you like it? Which actor of those who have stepped into the shoes of James Bond is your personal favorite? And, last question . . . most people have seen at least one of the Bond movies over the years; but have you ever read one of Ian Fleming’s original Bond novels?
See you next time –
