“Suicide kills more people than wars.

In the United States, every year, over 35,000 people kill themselves. And if you consider the fact that, for every completed suicide, there are about 10-20 attempted suicides … that’s heinous. That’s tragic. That’s an epidemic.”
The above is a direct quote from the (amazing, fantastic) blog of Sarah Fine, a child psychologist who also happens to be a generous blogger and prolific YA author. In addition to working in the mental health field and authoring novels, Sarah is also a strong campaigner for suicide prevention.
Sarah and romance author Justine Dell have teamed up to promote “Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Giveaway and Fundraiser,” and when these ladies talk giveaway and fundraising they aren’t playing games. There are multiple book giveaways and an auction that includes agent critiques and, yes, more books.
Rather than ramble here, I’m linking you directly to Sarah and Justine. Please visit Sarah Fine HERE and Justine Dell HERE, and check this out. Please. It doesn’t cost anything to take a look, and you might decide you’d like to participate. Sarah cites some other numbers on this sad topic that will shock you.
This is truly a worthy cause.
As promised, there is another Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hooked on Hockey winner, chosen through Congratulations to Pat at Critter Alley! She is our winner for this second and final drawing.  Thanks to everyone for playing and for visiting.
This Saturday is the annual Howl-o-Weenie festival so I’ll have some pics of crazy-costumed Dachshunds to share on next Wednesday’s post. If you’d like a preview, click HERE to see previous Howl-o-Weenie pics.
See you next week!
