Romance is good for your heart!

Pawsitive Pondering, The Naked Truth, & Observations from the Tub

Wednesday greetings from Writing in the Buff! For the last few weeks I’ve mentioned that my new website will go live soon, and here I am still hanging out at the old one. One of these days—maybe next week—I’ll surprise you and actually make the switch. In the meantime, here’s an idea of what to expect when it finally happens.

For starters, I’ll begin posting three times a week. Here’s the new schedule:

MONDAY: Pawsitive Pondering, to start your week with a smile.

If you’re new to Writing in the Buff, this is an example of a Pawsitive Pondering. No long-winded rambling (I save that for Wednesdays—ha!). Just fur-babies and grins to brighten your Monday moment:

WEDNESDAY: The Naked Truth, delivered with my clothes on. (You’re welcome.)

Wednesdays will be the same as always—sharing of The Naked Truth in a virtual coffee klatch. I hope you’re okay with that. 🙂

FRIDAY: Observations from the Tub, because life always gives us something worthy of “What the—-?”.

The photo below is an example of what to expect on Fridays. Short & sweet, just a little something to make you wonder if I have too much time on my hands.

My hubby gets the credit for noticing the battling headlines. These magazines were side by side in the grocery store, both dated March 23, 2015. Chris and Whitney were “risking it” and “over it,” both at the same time, apparently.

over all ready magazines

Regarding the Friday title, Observations from the Tub, the tub reference will be apparent when you see the new Writing in the Buff blog header. The blog header is not the same as the header for the home and other website pages. I wanted my little blog to keep it’s own identity.

Also, the new site offers a page for each of the Fireflies novels, and an excerpt from each. It’s a little scary to finally put words from my books out there for the world to see (I guess I better get over that before the first book releases). It was a whole lot easier when it was just my critique partner and my publisher giving me feedback. I know there are some of Sioux, er, oopsie, I mean you, who do not read romance. This will give you a preview of what to expect with my books.

Working with a web designer has been interesting. I know I’m a pain in the ass, and expect that when my name pops into her email inbox she probably suffers some terrible eye tic, or an allergic rash or something. Fortunately for me, she—Jennifer at J Davis Web Design—has been completely professional, and did everything I asked of her. I don’t know her middle name, but I suspect it is Patience. In any event, she suffered through all of my angst and questions, and helped me put together a site I’m pleased with. First and foremost, I wanted my website theme to be comfy and friendly, clean and uncluttered, and easy to navigate—like sitting down to share coffee and conversation with a friend. I hope when it finally goes live, you will find it to be all of those things.

Please put yourself in the Buff with a comment—in particular, I’d love to hear your take on the dueling magazine headlines I posted above. In your recent travels, have you made any observations about the weird stuff life puts out there for us? Share it!

For now, I bid you adieu, my blogger friends. Have a wonderful Wednesday, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Lisa

Lisa–Thanks for the call-out–er, the shout-out. I’m REALLY nervous about your first book coming out. I’m scared that once I read it, I will be so hooked on romance novels, I’ll grab any one for a fix–even the ones with the cover featuring heaving-bosoms-and-Fabioesque-men.

Probably not. Probably I’ll just be hooked on Lisa Claro Ricard’s version of romance novels.

I guess if I get the notification of your postings via email now, I still will once your website goes live? I hope so. And something from you three times a week? That’s three times better than what we get now!

    Yippee yahoo!

That’s my evil plan, Sioux—to suck you into the world of Happily-Ever-After. 🙂

Be aware that Romance comes with ratings, i.e. sweet, warm, hot, erotica, etc. I guess my stuff falls in the warm category (closer to sweet than hot), and honestly, what I’ve found writing these three books is that what I’m comfortable showing depends on the characters themselves. For instance, the heroine in the first book is a kindergarten teacher, sweeter by nature and less experienced than the heroine in the third book, who is the owner of a coffeehouse and fairly aggressive in going after what she wants. Different characters, different approach. And wow, I just really went off on a tangent there. lol

All of that to say that while Romance in general may not be your cup of tea, maybe you’ll enjoy taking a break once in a while from the more intense stuff you favor, to just sit back with a cup of your favorite beverage for no reason other than to be entertained. I don’t know if my stories will make you cry (my critique partner texted me on a first read through to tell me one scene did make her cry) or laugh (there is a scene in the first book that still makes me giggle like a 5-year-old when I read it), but if so, then I’ve done my job. I sure hope so.

And thanks for sticking with me. 🙂

Oh, sorry, I rambled and didn’t answer your email question. The answer is yes. If you’re already receiving email notifications when I post, you should continue to do so. If you don’t, please let me know asap.

First you’re in the buff, now you’re in the tub…are you SURE your romances are on the sweet side? 🙂 Doesn’t matter, any which way you appear in my inbox, I’ll be happy. Which reminds me…did I click to follow yet? I think I usually see you on FB and click over but I’m gonna sign on here, just in case!

Thanks, Cathy. And if the switcheroo occurs and you don’t get it in your email, please let me know. As to whether my romances are on the sweet side, well . . . lol I think they are, compared to some of the stuff I read, The Naked Truth and in the Buff and Tub notwithstanding. At least in the tub I’m covered with bubbles. Very important, those bubbles.

Good Morning, Lisa. I am glad I will still get the email notifications! Things changing so much everywhere, I need something to stay the same! Ha. But I am glad for you as your writing life seems so great right now. I don’t read much romance either but I loved your winning story in the writer magazine so I’m betting the books will follow! Stormy weather weather around here today but sunny and lovely at moment…have a good Hump Day.

Thanks, Claudia. I’m so glad you not only liked it, but remember it. The story you read may be the one that inspired “Love Built to Last.”

I hardly believe anything when it comes to those magazines and you made that point very clear. Ha. Looking forward to all your stuff and especially your new book(s)! YAY!

Super excited to read your book(s), Lisa, and the new website sounds awesome. Having you pop into my mailbox three times a week instead of one is all that much more delightful 🙂 My computer and I have both been sick and I’m still trying to get caught back up 🙁 but I’ll go now and comment on your last few posts I’ve missed. I’m also very glad to know that I’ll still get email notifications about your posts. Every lil bit of available prodding is helpful to my sometimes feeble brain…!

I’m right there with you regarding the need for prodding! I have lists all over the place, although I’ve discovered that I shouldn’t abbreviate things because three days later I have no clue what it means. Haha.

Am thrilled there will be more of your posts to look forward to, and sounds like a great schedule (something I’m still struggling to master)! Good catch of hubby’s, by the way. I don’t know how I’d be able to tolerate supermarket lines if it weren’t for those magazines. And I never even have to open one.

You make a great point, Tammy. I don’t ever open the mags either—there is plenty of stuff screaming from the covers.

I really debated with myself about the extra posts, but you know what? I love blogging, and I love my blog pals. I figured adding a couple of super short posts to the week wouldn’t hurt, and I think these will be fun.

The new blog stuff sounds fun but I hope you don’t cause yourself too much stress by adding the extra days. I love the dueling magazines. 🙂 I like reading/seeing examples of stuff like that. Reading your blog every week is one of the things I look forward to.

Lisa, I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to see your website! You’ve always done such a great job with your blog that I’m expecting big things. 🙂 I know it’s going to look great!

Thanks, Deb. The site is very basic, which is what I asked for. Nothing flashing, no pop-ups or anything like that. I wanted to keep it friendly. 🙂 Thanks for the vote of confidence!
