That’s What Love Sounds Like

Love is a good way to begin any week, so today’s Pawsitive Pondering sends some your way. Smiles for your Monday, Buttercup!

Rusty what love sounds like

Last Friday I pulled into my driveway and almost ran over a miniature Dachshund. He was spry for an old guy—his gray muzzle gave him away—and I was relieved to see he wore a collar. Unfortunately, no tag bearing contact info for the owner was attached to it. My husband remembered seeing a new neighbor walking a doxie, so on our way to the vet to see if the old fella was chipped, we stopped at the neighbor’s house. The little dog got loose while the woman’s toddler was napping, and she didn’t want to wake the child to go after the dog.

If my hubby hadn’t remembered seeing the dog being walked, we wouldn’t have had a clue where he belonged. And if he wasn’t chipped, it might have taken days—not to mention our time and resources—to locate the owner. For $20.00 or less you can have a collar tag made bearing the dog’s name, or your own, and a contact phone number. Had the pooch been wearing a name tag, he would have been returned home immediately with no more trouble than dialing the phone.

Please, folks. If you love your dog, take the time to get him a name tag with your phone number on it. No one expects their dog to run off or get lost, but if it happens, at least you’ll know that whoever finds him has the immediate ability to contact you and return your fur baby. It just makes good sense. Love  your dog? Please get him a name/contact tag for his collar.

Thanks for stopping by. See you Wednesday for the Naked Truth!

Lisa

Lisa–And if that poodle is spayed/neutered, that’s what love LOOKS like.

Yes, Radar has a tag that will send the finder back to Love a Golden, but it would be even better to have an additional tag with our number on it.

    Thanks for the well-needed kick-in-the-pants.

In my history of finding lost dogs in the neighborhood, more than once an identification tag has helped me get them home. Thanks for reminding everyone, Lisa!

Biscuit wears both Rabies with number of the vet and a tag with our names and number. The metal rubs off on her white chest and I wish I could take it off as she would look better….but I know better!

That is probably my favorite picture of Rusty. <3 He is indeed very much loved. He is also neutered, chipped and tagged as is our Buttons. My friend will be thrilled to see Rusty's picture on your blog today. Thank you for the reminder to take care of our furry friends. Have a great week!

That little doxie knew someone in your house would rescue him. Glad you found his home.

Amen to all that. That little doxie was a lucky puppy.
